This was my view Sunday morning. Trust me it was more beautiful in person than it is in this pic I took from my mobile phone.
I get asked often where my family goes to church. Seeing as how my husband is a former paster the question never really takes me off guard. Curiosity is always hanging around the rim of every conversation. People want to know. I've lived in a small town for 14 years, I get it.
Here's the thing, we get invited to church often. Since we are no longer employed/attending/serving/whatever our former congregation I think it's safe to say I've been invited to just about every other church in town. And that's nice.
I just wonder why we get invited. Is it because you know we are church attenders? Is it because your church needs a young, vibrant family like ours? Do you imagine we'd make a positive difference on your weekly offerings.
Now wait! Don't get mad at me. I am merely admitting things that have been in my own heart when I was the pastor's wife.
But now I'm on the other side of the pew. I enjoy it. Rather enjoy it in this season of my life, to be honest but....
as I sat and admired this beautiful window Sunday I wondered if it's beauty was going to waste. Sure, you invited me but what about all the other people you didn't invite. Why didn't you invite them? Why haven't they been shown as much love and concern as I have for where they attend? And if they attended a service would it have made a difference in their life. Does attending make a difference? If it doesn't, why doesn' t it? Is the world a better place because of churches and services and stained glass windows? Is my life?
just asking questions. only asking......
What about you? Do you attend? Why? and what difference is it really making in your life and the world?
