The Cherries are Coming!

This picture might not mean a thing to you

but it means the world to me.

Maybe you can't distinguish what kind of blossoms these are

but I'll never forget.

It's quite probable that you can't possibly fathom giving my blog entry a second thought

but nothing else is on my mind today.

You see, this is a cherry tree...

A Grocery Date

If you and your husband go grocery shopping can it be considered a date?

I was wondering because on day 5 of the two of us being home with 5 kids on spring break we needed to get away.

And rather than paper-rock-scissors for who got to go to the store, we decided we'd hit the aisles together.

That's a date right?

It has been just recently that darling hubby took over the respon...

Lessons from the Nest

Mothers do not get enough credit. If you are a good mother you will certainly get nothing as far as accolades go. If you are a bad mother you might find yourself on the evening news.

Being a mom is not easy. I wish all the mothers I know would give themselves a pat on the back and then cut themselves some slack.

"It is soooooo  hard!" My girlfriends, my clients, I, all say..... we all have a tough task a head of us. Whether you have...

In the Shadow of the Stained Glass Window

This was my view Sunday morning. Trust me it was more beautiful in person than it is in this pic I took from my mobile phone.

I get asked often where my family goes to church. Seeing as how my husband is a former paster the question never really takes me off guard. Curiosity is always hanging around the rim of every conversation. People want to know. I...

Mothering

John Mayer sings: "Mothers be good to your daughters, cuz daughters will live what you do. Girls become lovers who grow into mothers so mothers be good to your daughters too."

or something like that....

at the onset of my daughter's high school career I had an incredible sense that my parenting journey was pretty complete. If I hadn't imparted to her what she needed to succeed...

work ethic, honesty, resonsiblity, trustworthiness, brai...

Chocolate & Conversations

I have a PhD.........in playing.

I've been leading playgroups and parent child activities for 12 years and without any doubt, babygroup is my favorite of all the activities I have the pleasure of hosting. It's as much about "mommy time" as it is the babies! Today's group didn't disappoint.

We began discussing the frustration we feel now that our babies are turning into busy toddlers.

"My kid is into every cabinet! She found my chocolate stash!" one mom complained "...

Watch What You Ask!

Just because you are a grown up doesn't make you right.

A small child was in trouble at school recently. It was obvious as he was sitting, head hung, feet swinging in an oversized chair in the office.

My heart always breaks for these kids. Especially the ones who are repeat offenders. This is precisely why I didn't go into social work by the way - my heart can't the misjustice of a child. Remeber Jurassic Park, by chance? I walked out of it. Not because I was scared, I was mortif...

Are you having a hard time, believer?

Did that relationship break? Does it seem irreparable? Still living hand to mouth? Not moving yet? Job loss imminent? Feel lonely? Forgotten? Have you ever felt like you are towing the line of depression?

I have.

I am.

A lot has changed in my life these last few years. But even more has changed in me. In some ways I feel like I’ve ...

I Still Do

Posted on January 21, 2011 at 7:19 PM Comments comments (1)

Let me be clear and completely honest about one very important thing: I am not simply in love.

I am not just doing ok.

I am not lucky to still be married.

I am deeply, madly, absolutely, happily in love to the man I am still and will always be married to.

I wish I could invent a new word for the feeling I'm trying to describe.

What's the word that means more-than-happy? I'm afraid if I just say 'happy' you'll miss just how deeply and strong...
